If you’re anything like me, it took exactly 23 minutes for boredom to set in once the quarantine commenced. I skipped town on Amtrak on Friday, seeking shelter in Baltimore with my parents. (Truth be told, I was already planning the trip, it just synced up very nicely with the city shutting down- no pandemic panic here). And since Netflix has left much to be desired, the only thing left to do is occupy myself by online shopping. I consider it my contribution to stimulate the economy. And since you are also sitting at home, most likely desperately looking for anything to do, I figured I would share some of the items I’m buying.
First up, loungewear. When I left Manhattan, the world was still relatively normal, so I packed accordingly (i.e. actual outfits and limited comfortable clothing). Now that we are under house arrest, I realize I’m severely lacking in appropriate attire. (I’m essentially living in this hoodie and these sweatpants).
If you’ll indulge me a moment to step up onto my soapbox, I am normally, viscerally opposed to fast-fashion. A strong believer in making worthwhile investment purchases, I’m inclined to dislike anything that either plagiarizes successful designers or is of poor quality. But furthermore, fast-fashion is extremely environmentally irresponsible (thanks to toxic dyes and materials, not to mention the amount of energy used to create the junk). Fast-fashion contributes to one tenth of the world carbon emissions.
So you will never really hear me endorse any other those items (even though I’m sure it can be lucrative), I find the future of our planet slightly more compelling. Having said all that, I am making a very specific exception while we’re in these crazy, unchartered waters. Since normal companies are understaffed and shipping speeds will inevitably be delayed, I have no choice but to turn to Amazon to sustain me while separated from my closet.
But back to loungewear. Normally I am an oversized men’s button down and sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirt, or a matching pajama set, kind of girl. So to fill the void of the majority of these staples I left behind, I’ve purchased these items for the meantime.
I’ve also been eyeing these babies.
Of course, Shopbop also has Prime delivery and has THE BEST selection of loungewear. I’m honestly obsessed with everything below (especially these)
But since it even more vital than ever to support small businesses, I’m also rounding up some of my favorite loungewear. While it might take a little longer to get to you, you will undoubtedly not regret the purchase. I have never loved a pair of pajamas as much as I adore all my Lake Pajamas, I have these in two color ways (mine are long sleeve) and am seconds away from purchasing these, these, these, and this. Also at the top of my wishlist are all of the Hill House Home Nap Dresses. I’ve been waiting for warmed weather to finally purchase them and I think the time has finally come! And finally, these are my absolute favorite item of loungewear I own. I have several pairs and they are the perfect weight, are so soft, and when purchased on sale, the perfect price point.
Let me know what you’re wearing while we all wait out our own version of Lindsay Lohan house arrest. And stay tuned for much more quarantine content- I’ve got lots of things to share
