Weekly Roundup

wearing:
the perfect white t-shirt: "the crew" by hanes x karla:
i've documented my love affair with white t-shirts and my constant search for perfect one, then i read this article on man repeller. after reading the line  "i wanted a shirt that i saw on all the heroines in the movies from Grace Kelly to Winona Ryder" that the designer, famed stylist karla welch, used to describe her inspiration, i "added to cart" immediately. the collaboration between welch and my favorite, hanes, is great. (one word to the wise, i would size up, they run slightly snug.)

reading:
the  subtle art of not giving a *fuck:
while i've been powering through most of my fiction and non fiction choices (more book club recommendations forthcoming) the one work i have been savoring is mark manson's publication. i'm am a self professed people pleaser and care way too much what other people think of me, so when my dad purchased this book for me for christmas i was elated to seek some words of wisdom on how to improve. i try to read a few pages a day, to readjust my perspective, and i have to admit manson offers incredible advice, infused with great humor and relatable examples, as to why we should focus our attention on different things.

purchasing:
rebecca de ravenel's "twisty" earrings:
everything rebecca de ravenel releases makes the top of my wishlist. her palm beach esthetic is infectious and these gorgeous sea shell earrings are a must have for summer.

watching:
riverdale
i'll admit i'm a little late to the party on this one. but i was reluctant to binge this eerie comic book adaptation for a few reasons. one, aren’t i a little old to still be indulging in teen dramas? second, i'm  not one for the comic books and super heroes (not that this show has any) so i didn’t think it was necessarily my cup of tea. and finally, the terrible dye jobs. but i decided to give it a try after two of my best friends, rachel and jimmy fallon, gave glowing recommendations. it's really good!

reading:
goop's guide to heathy living in nyc: the new york institution, and one of my personal heros, fran leboowitz has been vocal about her disinterest in making new york a health conscious city. in theory, i see her point, the gritty nature of manhattan is what makes it so unique. she says city bikes should be reserved for more crunchy cities like portland (or in my opinion, reserved for people who actually know how to ride a bicycle). but as a resident i do appreciate the abundance of healthy options and these suggestions are fantastic.

visiting:
the freehand hotel:
what do you get when you combine bohemian and palm beach styles? the answer is the new freehand hotel on 23rd and lexington. my friends and i stopped by for a drink and the minute you ascend the staircase you are transported into a shearling, palm fronded paradise. it's optimal for large groups, with several different seating areas and alcoves, but make sure to get their early, it was packed.

sneaking in:
the royal wedding reception.
meghan markle is a selfish witch. first she takes prince harry away from us, then she convinces the spice girls to reunite but only for her wedding reception! to say i am livid is a colossal understatement. here we all thought we were getting a world tour...i hope kate steals her spotlight.

happy oscar weekend!
