Plain White Tee

There are few pieces more classic and versatile than the white t-shirt. An item that can seamlessly transition from being paired with Levi 501’s to a Max Mara coupe jacquard maxi skirt. With an abundance of options, securing the ideal style should be simple right? Not really. Perhaps it’s because of my Type- A personality, or my unwillingness to settle for less than exactly what I want, but I the perfect white tee still alludes me. Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink...

So often I see one of my favorite influences, or celebrities, donning a crisp, flatting silhouette but when I investigate further I inevitably find that they’re wearing an $85 rag&bone version. I spill far too much to spend that on a plain white tee. And the majority of the appropriately priced ones are either discontinued after a season, ill fitting, or of poor quality.

It appears my plight is universal, since so many of you voiced your own struggles, so I have decided to set out on a quest to find the perfect, reasonably priced white t-shirt.

Here is what I seek; a crisp true white, slight a-line silhouette, a subtle crewneck that hits just at the top of my collarbone, 100% cotton and priced at less than $35. I am a variable Goldilocks, they cannot be too thin or too thick, too clingy or too loose, too expensive or too cheap. It’s going to be quite a journey to find one that’s just right.

These are the brands I anticipate looking into;

Uniqlo
Hanes
& Other Stories
Lou and Grey
Gap
H & M
Zara

Please let me know if there are any others you think I should check out!
