It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

well the christmas cheer is in full swing here in new york and  i have been teasing holiday content for weeks now on which i have yet to deliver. this past weekend i made the catastrophic decision to venture into midtown to purchase one final gift and it was a good news, bad news situation. good news is, all those pitiful souls that lost their livelihood thanks to ringling bros and barnum bailey discontinuing the circus have found new employement hocking florescent trinkets to minnesota tourists for $15 a piece, the bad news is the five block radius surrounding rockefeller center has become a physical manifestation of the fresh hell we all now live in daily. be advised, enter at your own risk.

but as my grinch heart was accelerating from being pushed and shoved by people craning their necks to get a better instagram video of saks's light show, i remembered the nostalgia i once felt when i used to visit the city every year during the holidays. so i bounded through the crowd with a new pep in my step, inhaling the lucious aroma of roasted chestnuts and sugar coated pecans, that always manage to smell better than they actually taste, and decided to embrace to festive euphoria that was cocooning me.

and since i am one final gift away from completing my wrapping and taping and tying, i thought i would share with you a few of the items that have become my go-to presents (most are still available via amazon prime)

Untitled #115

pajama set: i am a big advocate of nice lounge wear and i think gifting something that the person may not necessarily splurge on for themselves is the ultimate gift. there are countless patterns and styles to find just the right fit and style for your loved one. for reasonable sleepwear i turn to j.crew (you can also personalize them with a monogram) and for a bigger splurge opt for sleepy jones.

face masks: we are all so chronically busy that give a gift that gives your friend the excuse
to slow down and indulge. face masks are so popular at the moment so they're available at every/ price point; my personal favorites are the dr. jart's sheet masks from sephoraglossier's detoxifying mask, and tata harper's resurfacing mask.

stationary: hand written notes may be a dying art form, but, in my opinion, never go out of style. these are particularly appropriate for brides-to-be for all their post nuptial thank yous and are so fun to customize for the recipients personality. i just recently purchased kate schelter's this-and-that set and a darling artichoke watercolor set from inslee.

coffee table book: this is such a fun way to show your loved ones that you really take note of their interests. stay tuned for a post on my favorite coffee table books, at the moment.

embroidered napkins: few things can improve the perfect cocktail and these embroidered napkins have found a way to upgrade and already perfect thing. i love the idea of giving a gorgeous set of monogrammed dinner napkins to a newly engaged pal, or finding the ideal ones to match a friends quirky interests, such as these emoji or fashion icon sets.

in the end, of course, it's always the thought that counts but i've found that these items are a great way to show you've put time and effort into finding just the right thing to celebrate a person you care about.
