much like the fundamentals of addition and subtraction in arithmetic, classic basics are the fundamentals on which every wardrobe is based. you will not believe how much versatility the most simple piece can provide. they also are, surprisingly, the items i opt to spend the least amount of money on. this is mainly because they are the items that get so much love that they needed to be replaced frequently to maintain the essence of the design.
one of the most versitile pieces a girl can own is the perfect white t-shirt. it provides a plethora of styling options and will never go out of style. you could wear it a different way, every day of the week, and it would always feel fresh and unique.
it can be dressed up with a high waisted, statement skirt for work,
paired with a chic pair of leather leggings and stilettos for a night out,
or just paired with a pair of vintage levi's on the weekends.
since it's so simplistic i'm extremely particular about the fit. i like a slightly oversized, a-line design that is flattering and modern. since white inevitably attracts the occasional spill or stain, i refused to spend a great deal on them. my go-to retailers are zara and h&m for tees under $20. hanes is also a personal favorite for a looser style. since most female shirts tend to be body conscious, i opt for the men's pack in small.
finally, i'm also fastidious about the presentation. since the shirts are so simple, it's imperative that they are well cared for. i iron them before every wear and transition any dingy ones to my lougewear drawer.
