Weekly Roundup

happy monday, i hope everyone is recovering from their super bowl hangovers. while i am partial to parties with embroidered linens, bernardaud china, and champagne, this girl does love to indulge in the occasional nacho (as long as it's accompanied by a crushed ice tanqueray and tonic). since these are my favorite posts to write i have tried to push them to the end of the week, sort of a "save the best for last" mentality, but i'm so obsessed with these things that i just couldn't hold out.

wearing:
lela rose ready-to-wear collection. i've long admired lela rose's feminine appliqués and modern twists on classic shilouhettes (her bridal collection is seriously what dreams are made of) but her designs, on average, were a little bit too much of a splurge to justify. until now! rose recently released a more budget friendly line entitled pearl. it is sold exclusively at trunk shows with prices ranging from $150-$650.

watching:
american crime story: versace. everything ryan murphy touches turns to gold and this season of the anthology american crime story, is no different. as the name would suggest, the show focuses on the 1997 murderer of the famed designer gianni versace. darren criss is hauntingly erring as the killer andrew cunanan but it's penelope cruz who steals the show as donatella. speaking of who, is also the focal point of my favorite vogue series 73 questions. all of this leaves me itching to book a flight to milan, gorge myself on cacio e pepe, and immerse myself in the language. (p.s. donatella is the co-chair of the met gala this year!)

contemplating:
kate middleton's tour style. if you have ever met me for more than fifteen seconds, chances are you are aware that kate middleton is pretty much my role model in very aspect of life, particularly her style. since you may not follow the royals are religiously as i do, you may not know that she and wills just complete a mini tour to sweden and norway. it was so nice to get to see kate dress for a different climate than we are used to seeing her in (how amazing was her fur headband?!) and i soak up every opportunity to see how she styles her bump, but i was left feeling conflicted about a few of her choices. she definitely stepped a little out her comfort zone, which is admirable, but i have to admit a few ensembles fell very flat (i think this may be her personal worst). but everyone has their bad days, and thank goodness meghan offered a palate cleanser with this chic choice.

eating:
mulberry & vine: every new yorker has their favorite take-out and delivery options down pat. one of my favorite go-to spots for healthy and delicious meals is mulberry & vine. i'm partial to their stuffed avocado, thai noodles and boneless chicken breat. try it, you won't regret it.

dreaming of:
vix bathing suit. senior year in college, my closest friends booked a winter break trip to las vegas. it was my first time in the city of sin and i shocked everyone, myself included, by loving everything about it. since it was so "off brand" my friends dubbed this alter ego "vix" and the moniker stuck. imagine my surprise to find a swimwear line by the same name! now all i need is a tropical vacation

reading:
bunny mellon, the life of an american style icon. having just completed jackie kennedy's biography, i was deeply fascinated by one of the only woman's advice jackie not only sought out but completely absorbed. mellon, the granddaughter of the inventor of listerine, was one of the integral members of the societal and political elite. she was known for her understated, yet immepable taste (an auction of her belongings at sotherby's garnered more that $210,000,000) and was commissioned by president kennedy to design the rose garden at the white house. a truly genuine and inspiring individual, i'm enjoying every second of her biography. (spy some of her interiors here)
